Club update
It’s been a while since the last race update, but it has been a busy weekend for the club so here it is!
Saturday
On Saturday 3rd September, we had several runners taking part in ultras and marathons around the South West.
Down in Cornwall, we had Martin D taking on the Saints Way (Padstow to Fowey) – a 45km coast-to-coast across the county. With well over 1000m elevation it was surely a tough run, and he completed it in around 6.5 hours.
In Devon, we had Tom P and Jerome taking on the City to Sea Marathon & Ultra – a 55km run from Exeter to Torquay mostly along the SW Coast Path. The first 20 miles were totally flat on tarmac or compressed path, then the rest on trails with some steep sections up and down, with lots of steps. Jerome completed the full 55km in about 7.5 hours, Tom stopped at the marathon check point (45km) just under 7 hours. This was a charity event with a sea-side ‘family festival’ at the finish line.
Nearer to home in north Somerset, we had 3 runners at the Mendip Marauder 30 – 30 miles (just under 50km) along the West Medip Way from Wells to Weston, with nearly 1500m elevation. George and Scot did amazingly finishing in around 6 hours, and Nick S finishing in around 5 hours in (joint) 2nd place! Amazing achievement Nick – well done!
Our infamous obstacle racer, Wayne, completed 4x 7km laps at Nuts Challenge with some brutal obstacles. Well done Wayne, we hope the medal was worth it.

Sunday
On Sunday we had a small team at the Bridgwater Half Marathon. Rich H achieved an amazing PB time of 1:25, Ben with a fantastic PB time of 1:28:59, and Lewis with a time of 1:31. Martin P unfortunately had to pull out at around 8 miles with an injury.
