London marathon!

We had 3 runners at London Marathon this year – Alex B who won the club place; Jerome; and Rich who qualified through a Good For Age place!
Jerome finished in 4:40, not bad after doing Berlin Marathon the weekend before. Jerome said that it was interesting to see the difference between the 2 events, both with similar numbers – Berlin had wide open streets so there was not much congestion, where as London was packed from the start. And in London the crowds were 5 deep pretty much the whole way around, while in Berlin there was sections with not much crowd.
This was Alex’s first marathon. He did brilliantly finishing in a time of 4:24 – and raising money for Shine. Alex said “I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has supported me on my marathon journey. My wife and family have been amazing, putting up with me in bad moods pre race and being out for hours at a time training. My club Quantock Harriers for giving me this opportunity and all the support throughout my training journey and on race day. Thank you so much to everyone that has supported my charity Shine and helped to raise lots of money.”
As for Rich, having qualified through the Good For Age, he was also running in the Abbots World Championships – he finished in an amazing time of 2:55 ! This is what Rich had to say “I can retire happy!”
But thats not all! We had Ross B at Cardiff Half. Even though it sounds like he had a nightmare of a start, he still finished in 1h 36m which is a great time.
